Clock analogy

I was sitting with my Grandfather Demetrios Kepas at the pharmacy as we waited a long while for their prescriptions to be filled which took about an hour. We sat there and watched as people came in and out of the store, at one point two young men came and sat near us and they started talking about the one guys broken arm. Eventually my Grandpa joined in on their conversation and started sharing his many years of knowledge with them. After finishing a couple different conversations he turns to me and the one guy who was left and said  If you took apart a clock, and set all of the pieces next to each other on the ground and waited, would they be able to put themselves back together without a master clock maker to put of all the pieces precisely where they needed to be in order to make the clock work. No, of course they wouldn't be able to put themselves back together, no even in a billion years. There had to be someone to put each part in its place in order for the clock to funct...

We all just deserve love and Respect

The other day on facebook, I was scrolling along just like I normally do when I am bored and end up clicking the little blue button on my bookmarks. As I was scrolling I noticed a facebook friend posted an article that was in response to a fairly recent youtube video of a young boy named Ryan who happens to be transgender. I had seen the youtube video the day before seeing this friends article which was judging the parents and the child for being transgender. It was hard for me not to want to cuss everyone out for being judgmental assholes for blaming this child's parents and for saying that being transgender is not real. I feel like a lot of people just have no idea what being transgender is, people are not educated about LBGT issues but instead keep themselves uneducated while judging from a stance that they have no prior knowledge about. Here is the post from facebook that I had to comment on. Here is the link to the 7 minute short documentary ...

Okay, I have done one blog post for all of march! And its the last day of march!! This I guess will be the second blog post I do for this month, and then I'll catch up on everything in April. Life has been so crazy! So I've been too busy to write anything for my blog lately. Not too many people actually read this blog, its more just a personal thing I do to write out my thoughts, share videos, write poetry and rant about life and things that I wouldn't share on facebook or anything like that. In a way this blog is like an online journal, and honestly having a blog is very therapeutic and is a great way to get your thoughts out there, no matter if people read it or not. So now that little rant is over! Lets talk about something really amazing and big that just happened in my life!! In my last blog post I said that I was turning in my mission papers! And I did! I sent them in like 3 weeks ago and guess what!!!! I got my mission call on Friday the 28th of  March!!! Which is...

Charity Never Faileth

This Sunday during church this simple statement caught my attention. "Charity Never Faileth". These three words have a lot of power, but first we need to understand what charity is. charity  is the pure  love  of Christ, and it endureth   forever ; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him. (Moroni 7:47) This scripture says that charity is the pure love of Christ. The Pure Love of Christ. How powerful. How do we have a pure love of Christ? What does that in-tell? From a 1981 General Conference talk by Gordon B. Hinkley he says, " I speak of charity in the sense of  forgiveness , of tolerance of the failings of another, of the smothering of the feelings of jealousy and unkindness toward associates."  So Charity comes in many forms, like forgiveness, tolerance, kindness, and not being jealous of others. Here is another great scripture about Charity, If so, his  a faith  and hope...

Depression Lesson

In Church yesterday during the third hour a speaker who is a psychiatrist spoke to us about Depression, not just Depression but the different types of depression, their cause, their duration and ways to solve them. I think this lesson is helpful for everyone, because there are millions who are affected by depression, and it is helpful to understand depression more, for those affected with it and those who know people affected by it. The 10 types of Depression 1) Being bummed 2) Mood Swings 3) Situational Depression 4) Combo Depression 5) Dysthymia 6) Cyclothymia 7) Clinical Depression 8) Minor depressive disorder 9) Major depressive disorder 10) Bipolar Depressive Disorder Cause(s) 1) not meeting expectations, someone said something rude, getting hurt. 2) Bad day, stressed, small fight with a friend or family member. 3) Big fight with someone, a breakup, death. 4) When situational depression starts to changes your brain chemicals into clinical depression. 5) Mild ch...

"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes"

"Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something. So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”  ―  Neil Gaiman It is the second day of 2014! Holy smokes 2013 went by so quickly!! But 2013 was AMAZING! So amazing, and I am looking forward to 2014, although last year might be hard to beat! Neil Gaiman has an amazing quote on how I feel about the new year, about making changes and about...

What Christmas means to Me

Image
Christmas isn't all about the presents and shopping and unwrapping gifts by the tree bright and early in the morning, although that is one of the biggest parts of it. But the most important part of Christmas is the Christ part, to me Christmas is the spirit of Christ. Growing up Christian, we've been a part of nativities for years, either watching or participating in the acting, and I've grown a lot closer to the story through that. So what is the spirit of Christ? The spirit of Christ to me, is pretty much everything good, like giving, charity, kindness, compassion, empathy, joy, and love. We celebrate Christ's birth here on the earth, because it was a miracle, his life changed the world forever, and even though he was the son of God he came to earth just like the rest of us, through a mother. Christ came to this earth for a very important purpose, to save us all, to die for our sins that we may be forgiving and be able to return to live with our Heavenly Father af...

My response to a negative post about Mormons on Tumblr

Zoom breakingnews : Mormon leader: Women at home is ‘essential part of society’ A Mormon leader says having women at home remains an essential part of society and cautioned against blurring feminine and masculine differences. D. Todd Christofferson, a member of the church’s Quorum of the Twelve, made the comments at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints two-day conference in Salt Lake City. Read more from  AP . (AP / Rick Bowmer) Well did you watch the General Conference? Cause If you didn’t, and your just saying things about the Mormon church that you don’t know about, you should do some real research and visit  Lds.org . I am a women, and I am a Mormon. People have so many misconceptions about what we believe, and I hear things all the time that blow my mind at how wrong people are. The other day in my art c...

October 4th 2011

That night I slept better then I had in weeks, For the first time in days I hadnt stayed up worrying, crying, and thinking about how bad everything was. That night I felt peacefulness in my soul, I felt at ease.  Six a.m. the following morning I awoke, I awoke to two strangers in my door way, and my parents hiding in the hall behind them. Someone said to get dressed quickly. I did as I was told, I was not afraid of them, even though you would be. There was an older man, and a mid-twenties girl The man was ex-military, either navy or marines  The girl was his daughter.  I guess "kidnapping" was a family business to them. The girl stayed in the room while I got dressed She told me not to bring anything important with me, I did anyways, I brought my engagement ring, the matching necklace, a journal and a pen.  and that was all I had as I walked out my front door never to re...
