Success

So today we(the 10th grade) took the 10th grade writing test!! As you can see by the title of this blog post, that the writing prompt was Success. Well the prompt posed as a speech that we(the writers) had to give to the up and coming freshmen into high school, we had to give this "speech" to tell them how to be successful while in High school.
I don't think mine was that good, but i had some nice little key points that i actually really liked. In my "speech" i told a story about a guy named Tom Hughes, who is a real person, and if he reads this then well hey Tom but he lives in California and i doubt he even know this exists. But Tom used to go to my church before he and his family moved out to Cali, Tom is an amazing guy, he's the type of person that makes you want to be a better person because of what an great example they are to you. He is generous, honest, kind, and full of integrity. In one of my Sunday school classes in church( for you fellow Mormons you know what that is, but everyone else, just dont read this if you dont wanna) Well so in my class our teacher for the day, Chantel Nelson gave us a lesson, and i'm not sure what it was on but i remembered the story of Tom that she told us. For her lesson she really didn't know what to do, so she felt like she should call up Tom in California for some advice, when instead of just advice on the lesson she based the lesson on him.
This is how it goes, so Tom decided that when he entered into high school he would push himself to become someone that he could look back to in the future and be proud of, he set goals for himself like becoming  the valedictorian, captain of the football team and other things like that. As he went about High school he pushed himself in his classes, in his sports and in every other thing that he did during those four years. It is amazing, all the things that he accomplished as a teenager. Tom went into the acting career, apparently he did pretty well because most actors are never heard of unless they are in an amazing movie but it still takes them along time to get noticed. I'm not sure what he does now instead of acting but he is a pretty awesome guy.
At my age i probably don't push myself any where near as he did, well actually i know that i dont, which is sad. Because i know that everyone can be great, its just up to us to do so. I could probably be really smart in all of my classes, and have good grades, and in sports i know i could do really well because i'm naturally really athletic, but just like most of the world, i am lazy too. It's sad and i wish i was better and tried more to be successful for the future, but it is a lot of work but it would pay off to try and be like Tom
